Description
The avocado is a tree believed to have originated from South Central Mexico, thought there is some contention around this origin. The fruit of this tree is the avocado, a pear shaped, green fruit with a rough exterior skin.
The inside contains a single large seed, surrounded by light green flesh that begins to ripen after harvesting. Avocado trees are unique in that they are “self-pollinating” and thus can be propagated through grafting.
Avocado puree is made by taking the flesh of an avocado and utilizing a food processor or blender to “puree” the avocado into a smooth paste. This puree can be further altered to suite various tastes and purposes, with individuals often including ingredients such as: garlic, lemon or lime juice, onion powder, paprika and others.
