“Teriyaki” refers to a specific cooking method, using a grill or open fire to roast meat basted in a sweet and salty sauce. Teriyaki is a marinade that is continually basted over the meat while it cooks. Although grilled seafood was the original reason for teriyaki seasoning, it is now used in a variety of dishes.
Teriyaki sauce can also be used as a dip, usually for foods such as potstickers, or in stir fry.
