Thai Curries

Thai Curries

Curry is a popular staple in many Asian countries, with each adding their own flair to their traditional curry sauces. One of the countries that often springs to mind when thinking of this flavorful dish is Thailand, which is known for several tasty varieties of curry.
Types of Thai Curries

Red Curry: Red curry is rich and spicy, gaining its signature flavor and color from bright red chilies. Red curry is often also combined with coconut milk, garlic, lemongrass, turmeric, and shrimp paste. Red curry is quite versatile and accompanies a wide range of dishes.

Yellow Curry: Like the traditional curries of India, yellow curry heavily relies on turmeric for its distinctive yellow hue. Yellow curry tends to be a bit milder than red and is often flavored with spices such as coriander, cumin, lemongrass, galangal, cumin, and garlic. Yellow curry is commonly served with chicken.

Green Curry: Green curry is quite distinct from other curries and one of the most popular forms of Thai curry. It gets its signature color from cilantro, kaffir lime leaves, and basil, though it often also includes fresh green chilies, coconut milk, lemongrass, shrimp paste, garlic, and shallots.

Penang Curry: Penang curry is richer and sweeter than regular red curry, though it is usually similar in color and also contains red chilies. It is often topped with coconut cream and frequently cooked with beef and peanuts.
