General Description
The main difference between coconut oil and virgin coconut oil is the process used to extract the oil. With virgin coconut oil, the oil is extracted from fresh coconut fruit, spun in a centrifuge and does not employ the use of either heat or “bleaching”. This process results in a pure, unadulterated and wholesome oil that can be enjoyed by all.
Instead of using the copra, virgin oil is extracted from the coconut meat itself. The lack of refinement in processing also results in a more nutrient dense oil that preserves the oil’s natural antioxidants and phytonutrients.
Virgin coconut oil generally has a stronger flavor profile than regular coconut oil because of the lack of chemical processing, making it a flavorful and aromatic addition to any meal or desert.
